Mitchell Wood embraces unusual lighting conditions and dramatic contrasts to portray subtle dramas that depict restrained states of powerful emotion. Mitchell’s mystical works reveal the instability of notional forms of existence by uncovering raw moments of experience that lie beneath conceptual frameworks.
When not in his Bay Area studio he can be found roaming Northern California, painting works en plein air that convey the majesty of natural light.
Mitchell has taught art lessons to K12 students in bay area schools and after-school programs for 4+ years. Please see the Teaching page (coming soon) for information about private lessons.
